About Cheyenne

I am driven to create spaces and objects that work. In all of my work I am interested in final purpose and creating harmony in every aspect.

Artist Statement:

I work to create understanding / bring acknowledgement to the unseen and unknown.  Rituals, homage, through material manipulation propel me.  Through small gestures of details and broad expanse I introspectively examine these “secrets”. Like, holding a small smooth object that your fingers fine the impression os lines and your mind finds the hasty within your own memories. Creating a sense of utilization from something unwanted into an introspective piece of art allows myself to also be known and shed light onto aspects that either would not be seen or rather information I would wish to never openly speak.

The current medium I have been mainly working with for the past several years is clay. Working with clay reminds me of holding my hand to the ground and being quiet: whispers of generations. Clay evokes within me a sense of generational balance and intentional risk. Near failure is a part of each piece.
